Visiting the Austrian Agency for Health & Food Safety
Delegates from Ministry of Economy & Trade and Ministry of Agriculture visited the Austrian Agency for Health & Food Safety
and discussed risk assessment methodologies of food contaminants.
In the framework of Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument (TAIEX) managed by the European Commission, the Ministry of Economy & Trade represented by the expert in Agriculture & Food safety, Siham Daher, organized a study visit to the Austrian Agency for Health & Food Safety (AGES) and invited a representative from the Ministry of Agriculture, the director of the food industry department, Mariam Eid.
The visit lasted 4 days from 10 to 13 February 2014. Experts from the Austrian agency made presentations about all chronological steps admitted in a risk assessment design starting from risk identification, sampling plan and risk characterization to food consumption, exposure assessment ending with risk management and risk communication tools. In addition, delegates visited AGES laboratories, and discussed facts about AGES establishment, structure and function.
