Visit of the UN Special Coordinator in Lebanon to the Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury
Read in ArabicMinister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury welcomed this morning Mrs. Pernille Dahler Kardel, the Acting United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon and the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for the United Nations in Lebanon . The two parties discussed the importance of CEDAR Conference to be held in Paris on April 6th and its impacts on the lebanese economy. In this regard, Khoury explained to Kardel the sectoral macroeconomic plan that is elaborated with the cooperation of Mckinsey & Co in order to boost the lebanese productive sectors where Lebanon enjoys a preferential value represented by the huge human and economic characteristics. In her turn, Kardel praised the lebanese innovative diaspora all over the world and urged Lebanon to take advantage from. As for the guarantee that will constrain the upcoming government to undertake the reforms and proposals put forward by CEDAR Conference, Minister Khoury assured Mrs. Kardel that the President Aoun is the surest guarantee to work in total transparency and to undertake all necessary reforms that Lebanon would benefit from. At the end of the visit, Kardell commended the major role that Minister Khoury is playing in this critical period to spread the economic awareness, especially under the situation that both Lebanon and the region are currently facing.
