On the occasion of the official visit of Her Excellency Ms. Svenja Shulz, Federal Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, and her accompanying delegation, the Ambassador of the Germany, Andreas Kindl hosted His Excellency Amin Salam, Minister of Economy and Trade last night for a business dinner at the Mövenpick Hotel Beirut. Attending the dinner was Dr. Nakat Rochdi, UN Deputy Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Corinne Fleischer, Regional Director World Food Program and senior members of the German Parliment.
During the dinner, the officials touched on bilateral relations between the two countries in the commercial, industrial, and investment fields, as well as ways to enhance and develop them. They also discussed aspects of joint cooperation between the two sides.
Food security was a major topic during the meeting and Minister Salam emphasized the urgent need from the International Community and the Federal Republic of Germany to support and stand by Lebanon on the food security issue with focus on supply chain and sustainability.
