In view of the latest decision of the Council of Ministers related to the fuel and diesel prices increase, Minister of Economy and Trade, Dr. Amer Bisat warns all the merchants, importers and the owners of private electricity generators to exploit this decision and increase the prices randomly without any justification. He states that any offence in this regard will be met with the utmost firmness.

In this regard, Minister Bisat assures that the Consumer Protection Directorate will intensify its inspection tours in all the Lebanese regions and will refer anyone who is proven to be manipulating the prices or exploiting the citizens before the competent courts in parallel with claiming  to impose the harshest sanctions against them.

to submit complaints, document the violations and follow up the measures taken by the Ministry in order to ensure transparency and accountability.

Moreover, the Ministry of Economy and Trade will confront any form of greed and monopoly in order to protect the purchasing power and ensure the markets’ stability. Minister Bisat also stressed that the Ministry will not tolerate any party that violates laws or messes with the citizens’ living.
