Salam shows in Washington the potential of the Lebanese economy and its investment opportunities.

Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, participated in the meeting of the US Chamber of Commerce during his visit to Washington to take part in the annual meetings of the World Bank.

The Chamber of Commerce’ meeting brought together major US companies from all economic sectors, namely in the field of energy, telecommunications, technology and health.

The attendees reviewed with Minister Salam the situation of the economic sectors in Lebanon and discussed together the Lebanese economy’ potential in addition to its investment opportunities, ways of economic recovery as well as relevant initiatives and restoring trust to attract opportunities; especially in the oil and gas sector on which Lebanon counts to explore and extract in order to achieve returns.

In his turn, Minister Salam informed the meeting attendees about Lebanon’ determination to emerge from the financial and economic crisis that is facing to restore trust internally and abroad; Moreover, he added that “he seeks to achieves economic structural reforms, enhance the business environment and boost the investment opportunities in the productive sectors”.

In this regard, Salam emphasized “the importance of the offshore drilling work continuity and Lebanon’s accession to the list of oil-producing nations and the need for the US companies to invest in the energy sector’.
