Salam participated in the expanded meeting held by the American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL)

Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, participated in the expanded meeting held by the American Task Force on Lebanon (ATFL) held on Wednesday in the American Capital to support Lebanon at all levels with the presence of more than forty prominent figures.

 

In this regard, the majority of the attendees, who participated in this meeting held by the Biggest non-government organization working in Washington to support Lebanon, was consisted of the members of the US Congress concerned in the Lebanese issue. This organization is made up of prominent Americans of Lebanese heritage who work to strengthen the historic ties between the United States and Lebanon, thus contributing to the possibility of supporting the Lebanese government and people at all levels. To this end, Minister Salam provided a comprehensive and detailed explanation on the economic, social and political situation in the country; especially that there has been much talk in the past days in such a way that caused fear of an outbreak of a civil war as well as the importance of cooperation, solidarity and unity between the Lebanese to avoid the spectre of war from the country. Furthermore, Minister Salam explained to the attendees the reasons of his fears from a sea, air and land embargo against Lebanon where there was talking in this issue under the expansion of the Israeli aggression to comprise the international road connecting to Lebanon and Syria and the continuous bombing of the airport surrounding.

 

In addition, Minister Salam discussed with the attendees,  to whom both the Lebanese delegation  from Latin and North America as well as from the Lebanese delegation from Canada joined the meeting via video call technology, means of support and cooperation in the coming post-aggression phase on the economic, political and social levels in addition to the capacity of the Government, civil society, associations as well as  the  brother and friend States in terms of reconstruction, activating the economic cycle and the return of the Lebanese to their works, homes and villages that were destroyed  as well as  their agricultural lands that were burnt and polluted in addition to their impacts on the Lebanese economy and its growth. To this end, Minister Salam received from the attendees all the positivity and support to lend a hand, whom will not spare any effort to help their parents and relatives in Lebanon, being the basis of establishing this organization.
