Salam met the Bekaa farmers
and discussed the issue of milk production and the risks of the hydrogenated oils damage
The Bekaa farmers met the Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, in his office to reveal their suffering and claims; especially in terms of the milk production and its derivatives of Lebanese diary.
During the meeting, the delegation showed the Minister some of the local products that contain high levels of hydrogenated oils, which raise concerns about quality and public health.
In this regard, Minister Salam assured the farmers his keenness in supporting both the Lebanese farmer and the local production; stressing the importance of promoting the quality of local products to maintain the consumer’ confidence and support the Lebanese economy.
Moreover, he promised to follow –up the issue carefully to ensure the protection of the consumers’ health and the adherence to the required health standards.
