Salam after meeting the Head of Qatar Bar Association
By our cooperation we will definitely succeed to turn the new Lebanon into the hub of the Qatari investments
Minister of Economy and Trade, Ami Salam, met in the Qatari capital, Doha Me. Mubarak Al-Sulaiti, Head of Qatar Bar Association to discuss the twinning cooperation between the said Association and the Beirut Bar Association in order to strengthen and consolidate cooperation between lawyers, similar organizations, associations and trade unions in the two countries; as a matter of concern from Minister Salam given the fact that he is an international lawyer before being a Minister in the Lebanese government.
In fact, the lawyer is the protector of justice and independence,
Therefore, and convinced to the necessity of the Bar attendance in any event to facilitate legal exchanges and enhance the exchange of documents and information related to various aspects of law and diligence in addition to organize the lawyers’ workshops and facilitate the companies’ incorporation in both countries in order to strengthen and consolidate cooperation between lawyers and similar organizations, associations and trade unions in both countries. To this end, we took this step to update the brotherly relationship between Lebanon and Qatar as well as to put our relationship and potential at the service of both people and attract the investments of our Arab and the Gulf brothers, namely the Qatari brothers.
We all know that capital is coward. For this reason, we should prepare the floor for law and justice through promoting confidence in justice; develop means to secure justice and improve its performance for it is the essential lift for growth and attracting investments that keep pace with economic and social transformations that societies of all kinds, are witnessing through facilitating the access to law and justice and update the legislations in a way that keep up with latest developments and adapt with international commitments related to human rights in addition to adjudicate within a reasonable time frame; to secure necessary judicial security to enhance the business environment as well as to support the efficiency and transparency of the judicial authority based upon the information technology and alternative means to settle disputes; which constitutes the fortress and the protector of investors in Lebanon. It is to mention that these actions and efforts shall be among the goals of the cooperation between the Qatari and Lebanese bar associations.
Moreover, Minister Salam added that confirming the intention of Lebanese State to keep up with latest developments, today and in the future, it is no doubt that the fact of relying on information and technology and digitalization is considered a serious action and a promising effort in Lebanon, as an example;
The Lebanese Ministry of Economy took this step, making it the first ministry in Lebanon to move toward digitization and electronic governance in order to increase transparency and reduce corruption, wasting of money, opportunities and time.
In addition, Minister Salam sated “this is our journey in the new Lebanon in addition to the investment contact; and the opportunity to benefit from several attractive factors and incentives within the structure of the Lebanese investment market, such as:
1- The low cost of the Lebanese workforce
2- The availability of young potentials; holders of university degree,
3- The relatively reasonable tax issue
4- The continuation of the freedom of money transfer from and to Lebanon.
A the end, the meeting was concluded by the initiative and proceeding to cooperate, stating that this meeting will draw a prosperous future in terms of exchanging rich and strong experiences and diligences on the chambers and courts’ level, on one hand; as well as assuring that Lebanon will constitute the hub for the Qatari investments according to the instructions of both bars, on the other hand.
