Salam accepts the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
to participate in the preparatory meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) 13th Ministerial Conference
Minister of Economy and Trade M. Amin Salam participated in the preparatory meeting of the World Trade Organization (WTO) 13th Ministerial Conference. In this regard, Minister Salam expressed his pride for participating and attending the meeting and conveyed his thanks to his Excellency Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, Minister of Commerce of the brotherly Saudi Arabia for their continuous efforts and their effective leadership. He also esteemed the pioneer role of the Kingdom in joining the Arab forces, underlining the crisis emerging in the region, including the economic and trade developments and the situation in Palestine; and highlighted the Kingdom ambitious vision toward development and prosperity under the leadership of The Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Moreover, Salam expressed appreciation to the United Arab Emirates for hosting this Conference and praised the vital role of the Kingdom’ permanent mission to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for coordinating and hosting this meeting as well as preparing the WTO 13th Ministerial Conference; stressing the importance of boosting the trade and economic cooperation between the Arab countries in facing the current regional and global challenges.
Minister Salam also highlighted the efforts exerted in order to merge the Arab countries within the world economy in addition to the important of the joint work to enhance their trade stances and protect their interests in international negotiations. In addition, he stressed the urgent need to accelerate the economic and administrative reform process and enhance the business environment to attract Arab and foreign investments.
In a related context, Salam noted the crisis in Lebanon; expressing the hope that ongoing reforms will contribute in regaining the economic stability and strengthening the international trust in the Lebanese trade policies. He also called to support Lebanon in its efforts to accede to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
To conclude, he reemphasized the hope that this meeting will constitute a start for enhancing the joint Arab efforts and contributing in achieving the Arab people aspirations toward advancement and progress; calling for the adoption of the proposals that will be discussed in the Ministerial Conference in order to achieve these goals.
