Qatari Transport Minister confirms to Salam Doha readiness to help Lebanon in the transport sector:
Public transportation buses and advanced systems
Minister of Transport H E Jassim Bin Saif Bin Ahmed Al Sulaiti expressed his country´s interest to put the Qatari transport issue at Lebanon´ disposal, showing Doha readiness to help the Lebanese authorities getting buses capable of working according to current Lebanese infrastructure.
In this regard, Al Sulaiti asserted to Lebanon´ Minister of Economy, Amin Salam with whom he met today at the Ministry´s headquarter in Doha, that Qatar is totally ready to provide Lebanon with all studies and systems, in particular those elaborated by Doha in order to enhance its land, sea and air transport sectors; noting that these studies and systems shorten the preparation time for the Lebanese Republic to implement projects by 50% and spare for Lebanese State millions of dollars.
This initiative came on the margin of the visit made by the Lebanese Minister to Qatar accompanied with a businessmen delegation in order to look for solutions related to the Lebanese economic crisis as well as to increase investments between the two countries.
Moreover, the importance of the Qatari proposal consists in alleviating the burdens on the Lebanese economy; for a weak Lebanese transport sector is considered among the main causes for the increase of the fuels bills´ costs in foreign currencies as well as being among the heavy burdens imposed on the Lebanese, in general and the public sector employees and students, in particular.
After discussing issues of common importance for both countries, Salam and Al Sulaiti exchanged points of view in terms of the importance of this sector in creating essential incentives to support any national economy, which Lebanon currently lacks.
It is to mention that Minister Salam will inaugurate the Lebanese Pavilion (Expo Qatar) in the presence of Qatari Municipalities Minister, Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, where he will receive the exhibition´ visitors in addition to a large group of Lebanese and Qatari businessmen before returning tomorrow to Beirut.
