Minister Salam sends a call for help in the name of lebanese people at the arab league
Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
At first, I would like to extend my thanks, in the name of the Lebanese Republic, to the Secretariat General of the Arab League, represented by its Secretary General and its employees for their permanent efforts exerted to overcome obstacles between the brotherly Arab countries on all levels, namely in the field of following up the matter of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area.
Furthermore, I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims of the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria, leaving behind many victims and thousands of homeless people. To this end, I take the occasion to invite the Arab countries to put aside their differences and offer all possible support to the earthquake-affected people. In this regard, Lebanon can feel this suffering the most; especially that he did not fully recover yet from the repercussions of the August 4th’ explosion that destroyed half of the city of Beirut, leaving behind hundreds of victims, thousands of injured and huge financial losses.

In addition, Lebanon made a distress call to his Arab brothers countries to help him overcome unprecedented economic and financial crisis leading to an almost total destruction of his economic, service and human infrastructures and emptying the country from his citizens as well as his human capacities.
Finally, the road to social and economic growth as well as the institutions – building is an obligation and a must to all the Arab countries, for seeking it is a trust that shall be kept being the tomorrow road and the generation’s hope. By looking toward tomorrow as well as your determination and willingness to sacrifice; you cannot but accept that Arab countries are steadily moving toward highest levels of pride, dignity and prosperity. At the end, I wish the Council’s work all success and luck. Peace, God’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
