Minister Salam met in Antalya with the Turkish Minister of Interior and the Chairman of the Lebanese-Turkish Joint Committee:
Lebanon's Food Security issues dominated the meeting and more than five hundred thousand tons of food aid, with infant formula from Turkey.
As part of his participation in the Diplomacy Forum in Antalya, Minister of Economy and Trade Amin Salam met with Turkish Minister of Interior Suleyman Soylu, where they discussed ways to develop bilateral relations in various fields, especially economi, trade and investment. They also discussed the latest regional developments and their repercussions on countries in the Middle East, specifically the food security challenges facing Lebanon as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
Minister Soylu assured Minister Salam of the permanent support of the State of Turkey to Lebanon, especially in light of these exceptional circumstances thatthe country is going through. Salam announced that Turkey would successively send more than five hundred thousand tons of food aid to Lebanon, including infant formula, flour, sugar, grains and sunflower oil.
Salam thanked the State of Turkey for all the care it gives to Lebanon and the Lebanese people. The two parties agreed to schedule soon for a meeting of the joint committee headed by the two ministers in Beirut.
