Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, welcomed in his office at the Ministry the Colombian Ambassador to Lebanon Mr Fernando Helou. Discussions highlighted the the importance of boosting trade exchange between the two countries and the possibility of Columbia providing Lebanon with technical assistance pertaining to the port given its experience and expertise in the field. Later on, Minister Salam received the Board of Directors of the National Board of Compulsory Insurance. Main topics of discussions included the insurance sector in general, compulsory insurance in specific and the challenges facing the health sector and the Insurance Control Commission’s ability to fulfill its obligations towards beneficiaries. In this regard, the President of the board of directors, Mr Abdo Khoury, confirmed the board’s support to Minister Salam and the Insurance Control Commission and expressed their readiness to put their capabilities at the disposal of the Commission to enhance the sector’s reputation and restore citizens’ trust. Minister Salam also reconfirmed his willingness to strengthen the insurance sector’s pioneering role especially in this challenging economic situation.
