Minister of Economy and Trade received the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Oliver De Schutter
Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, received today at his office the UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, Oliver De Schutter and discussed several issues, mainly the negotiations with International Monetary Fund (IMF), supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the food security, high cost of living and the challenges resulting from the increase of goods’ price. In this regard, Minister Salam stressed that the exit from this crisis will be painful but we have to proceed with it now or never. Every crisis holds within it an opportunity and although solutions are usually painful in times of crisis, still they are necessary more than ever. He also pointed out that the procedures that will be taken should reveal the emergency situation, thus the rescue plan will turn out to be a contingency plan and not just a recovery one.
