Read in ArabicMinister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury welcomed today at noon the British Ambassador to Lebanon accompanied with Her Majesty's Trade Commissioner for the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan, Simon Penney in an acquaintance visit. Mr. Penney explained his role played in the region to promote trade and investment between the United Kingdom, Lebanon, Jordan and other countries as well as to boost and fund the exports.
In this regard, Penney stated that he relies heavily on the pivotal role Lebanon plays to promote trade with the Gulf region and Africa.
Furthermore, discussions tackled the trade negotiations between Lebanon and the United Kingdom within the later withdrawal from the European Union.
In his turn, Minister Khoury emphasized the importance of the economic growth during this period through enhancing the joint cooperation between Lebanon and the United Kingdom, in particular in the field of the British technology and knowledge transfer to lebanese industry sectors in addition to improving the market access conditions of lebanese goods to the United Kingdom.
At the end, both parties agreed to take practical steps to enhance trade and investment between the two countries.
