Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury received this afternoon the president of Socio-Economic Council, Charles Arbid, in the presence of the Council’ body and the Director General of the Ministry, Alia Abbas.

At the end of the meeting, Arbid stated: “we were honored to meet with Minister Khoury who just explained to us the study on the national economic plan. As a Socio-Economic Council, we will surely be partners in elaborating this policy because as President Nabih Berri once said, the Socio-Economic Council is an “economic parliament” and it is evident that the council will participate in all the studies to express a constructive positive point of view for the future of the Economy in Lebanon. We already called the council as the tomorrow’s council and we go hand in hand with Minister Khoury to help create a good product for the lebanese economy through this study”.

In his turn, Minister Khoury said “we met today and agreed upon a road map to set up a plan that defines the economic identity of Lebanon where all sectors are considered as an added value for Lebanon. For this reason, we are defining the State policy to stimulate investments and create job opportunities”; adding “we cooperate with the Socio-Economic Council and all the concerned parties in order to reach the desired goals. As a Ministry of Economy and Trade, we will work together with McKinsey & Company which was delegated by the Council of Ministers to set up this plan with all the concerned Ministries and parties”.

At the end, Khoury concluded: “we are optimistic about the positive spirit of the Council with whom we maintain good relations to facilitate the work. As of next week, we will conduct a resolute workshop to come out with positive results; hoping to serve as a model in terms of demonstrating our ability to work together to fulfill our  desired goals”.
