Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, met Taras Kachka the Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine. Discussions tackled the bilateral relations; namely on the level of economic and trade cooperation between Lebanon and Ukraine.

In this regard, the meeting focused on discussing a comprehensive economic partnership agreement between Lebanon and Ukraine in addition to strengthening the trade cooperation in different fields of common interest, such as agriculture, technology, downstream industries and retail trade, in a way that contributes to open up new prospects that support the growth of trade and mutual investments.

Furthermore, discussions tackled number of strategic projects in terms of food security between Lebanon and Ukraine; especially that the latter is considered among the largest exporters of wheat, cereals, oils and other foodstuffs to Lebanon and the region. In addition, one of the most important projects that was discussed consisted in the possibility of adopting Lebanon as a strategic hub for wheat and cereals storage in the Middle East.
