Minister of Economy and Trade met a delegation of the Syndicate of Importers of Foodstuff
headed by Hani Bohsali
Dr. Amer Bisat met, in his office at the Ministry, a delegation of the Syndicate of Importers of Foodstuff headed by Hani Bohsali, in the presence of Director General of Economy and Trade, Dr. Mohamad Abou Haidar. Discussions tackled the food security and the prices’ control issues by the beginning of Ramadan.
During the meeting, Minister Bisat highlighted the importance of cooperation between the public and private sectors to ensure the prices’ stability and provide the basic food commodities to the citizens, in particular under the current economic circumstances. Moreover, Minister Bisat affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to track the markets and take the necessary actions in order to prevent prices’ manipulation or exploitation to the citizens’ needs.
In his turn, Bohsali brought up, with the members of the delegation, the challenges facing the sector.
Both parties affirmed the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to ensure the provision of the basic food commodities to the citizens during the holy month, while stressing the importance of strengthening the control over violations that may affect the food security.
