Minister of Economy and Trade made a phone call with his Swedish counterpart

Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, made today a phone call with his Swedish counterpart, State Secretary, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Ms. Diane Janse, to thank the Swedish Kingdom, Government and people for their human support to the Lebanese people during the Israeli attacks through their financial contribution that exceeded 80 million Swedish kronor (SEK) in response to the crucial conditions that Lebanon witnessed. In her turn, the Swedish Minister invited Minister Salam to visit Sweden to strengthen the Swedish Lebanese relations on the economic level and follow up closely the situation of the Lebanese community in the Kingdom of Sweden, on the social level.
In his turn, Minister Salam expressed his sincere appreciation for this gracious invitation and confirmed he will accept this invitation. Moreover, Minister Salam appraised, through the phone call with his Swedish counterpart, the re-opening of the Swedish Embassy in the Lebanese Capital, Beirut on last October 7th, which restores trust in the Lebanese State and stimulates the economic cycle within the country, in view of the importance of the relations of countries on the Swedish and European level. In addition, both parties discussed the cooperation relations, namely in the field of economic development and opening new horizons for the companies and enterprises in the Swedish and Lebanese markets.
Minister Amin Salam also discussed with the Swedish Minister, Ms. Diane Janse, the latest political and security developments in Lebanon, in particular those related to the cease fire agreement in the South and the basic implementation of the international UN resolutions 1701, 1559 and 1680; as well as the latest developments of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon in view of the developments in Syria for Sweden is one of the main donor and supporter countries to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
To conclude, both parties undertook to keep the communication channels opened between Stockholm and Beirut for the interest of both the two brotherly and friendly countries.
