Minister of Economy & Trade Mansour Bteish discussed with MPs Ghazi Zeaiter and the Brigadier General Walid Sukkariya
Minister of Economy & Trade Mansour Bteish discussed with MPs Ghazi Zeaiter and the Brigadier General Walid Sukkariya, representatives of the Baalbeck-Hermel Parliamentary Bloc of the situations in the region and its economic needs. Both parties tackled the issue of the wheat agriculture and the electricity generators.
At the end of the meeting, MP Ghazi Zeaiter made the following statement: “we were honored to visit his Excellency Minister of Economy & Trade Mansour Bteish, the Brigadier General Walid Sukkariya and me, representatives of Baalbeck-Hermel Parliamentary Bloc whereof we discussed the Government’ economic vision in general as well as the wheat agriculture in Lebanon and, namely in Baalbeck – Hermel governorate.”
He also added that “according to our information and the capabilities of his Excellency and his economic development aspirations in general as well as the wheat agriculture and support, we are feeling comfortable with what was raised and we are seeking first to keep the price of wheat per ton at 590 Lebanese pound and we are working in the future to extend the lands for wheat farming in order to support the farmer by increasing and enhancing his crops”.
Moreover, Zeaiter added: “we also discussed with his Excellency the issue of electricity generators in the region and we urged both him and the concerned departments to oversee and control the electricity generators for the sector is totally randomized. We also thanked his Excellency for his positions and his role played within the government as well as his exerted efforts with the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister. We hope to reach a stage where we will be able to fulfill our needs on the economic and agricultural level at the soonest”.
On his turn, Minister Bteish stated: “as for the electricity generators, we are exerting all our best efforts in all the regions with a limited number of inspectors. However, we assure you that we will exert all the necessary efforts in Baalbeck-Hermel to control the prices in order to make sure that the citizen is not aggrieved”.
It is to mention that Minister Bteish headed this morning a preparatory meeting to follow up with the Arab Economic Summit decisions in preparation for Lebanon to chair the social and economic council meeting in Egypt.
