Minister of Economy and Trade, Mansour Bteish, met with the Resident Representative of UNDP Lebanon, Mrs. Celine Moyroud with talks touching on the Ministry's action plan which contains the key elements to advance the Lebanese economy in the coming period.

On her turn, Moyroud discussed ways of joint cooperation, namely in terms of developing national policies and strategies in line with Lebanon’ commitments and the sustainable development goals 2030 in addition to supporting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and developing a national strategy to develop exports.

Minister Bteish also met with a delegation of the steel tubes and pipes plants’ owners headed by MP Chawki Daccache where discussions tackled the dumping issue that threatens their plants and workers, especially that countries exporting to Lebanon support their industries while some of them also support their exports. Daccache quoted from Bteish his understanding for the industrialist stands, adding that “he is known for making desperate efforts to protect the productive national economy; the thing that intersects with our opinion and vision because there is no economy without any production or particular emphasis on the productive sector”.

Moreover, Bteish met with Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohammad-Jalal Firouznia, in an acquaintance visit.

Minister Bteish also met this evening with a delegation of the World Bank as part of its tour on Ministries and private sector’ associations in order to develop the digital economy program in Lebanon. Bteish emphasized the great importance of this sector that enables Lebanon to keep pace with development, facilitate the financial and administrative procedures and enhance transparency. Both parties agreed to discuss the possibility of organizing awareness workshops in this regard.
