by meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon
Minister Amin Salam pursued his visits to the diplomats by meeting with the Ambassador of the European Union to Lebanon Sandra De Waele, as part of his movement toward Arab and regional countries and in order to keep the communications lines opened to comprehend their detailed information and provide support on all levels, if possible, under this continuous aggression that Lebanon is going through.
In this regard, Minister Salam explained to Ambassador De Waele the country’s general situation; in particular the necessity to provide humanitarian aids and adequate accommodation places for the displaced people whose areas are being exposed to Israeli bombings in addition to meet their daily needs. He addressed a request to provide assistance in order to support and equip the shelters centers, such as schools and buildings, that opened their doors to welcome the displaced people; in particular the “Quality in” hotel at the Rachid Karami International Fair in Tripoli which extends over one million square meters to be at the service of the displaced.
On her turn, Ambassador Sandra De Waele thanked Minister Salam for his visit and affirmed that the European Union is standing with the Government and people of Lebanon; stressing that the European Union did not spare any effort to support Lebanon.
At the end, Minister Salam conveyed his thanks to the Ambassador of the European Union for all the efforts exerted to support Lebanon through this difficult period; in particular for their great contribution in providing a large part of the amount of 200 million dollars till present, granted by the donor countries and approved by the Council of Ministers.
