Minister Amin Salam pursued in the morning his diplomatic initiative by meeting with the Ambassador of Greece to Lebanon Despina Koukoulopoulou, in the Embassy’s headquarter in Rabieh as part of his movement toward Arab and regional countries in order to keep the communications lines opened to inform them about the latest current situation’ updates ; to comprehend their available information and support on all levels, if possible, under this continuous aggression that Lebanon is going through.
In this regard, Minister Salam Minister Salam conveyed his thanks to Ambassador Koukoulopoulou for the Greek stance supporting Lebanon in order to de-escalate the Israeli military aggressions as well as for their humanitarian efforts exerted to mobilize a European support to provide: medical aids on the central and European level for the Lebanese people who were injured and need medical treatment due to this aggression. Minister Salam also thanked Her Excellency for the European Union contribution during this difficult period, including what was announced on Thursday the allocation of additional humanitarian aids of an amount of 30 million euros (33.1 million dollars) bringing the European Union’s total humanitarian aid to Lebanon to over than 104 million euros this year (about 115 million dollars).
Furthermore, Minister Salam explained to the Greek Ambassador the country’s general situation; in particular the necessity to provide humanitarian aids and adequate accommodation places for the displaced people whose areas are being exposed to Israeli bombings in addition to meet their daily needs. He addressed a request to provide assistance in order to support and equip the shelters centers, such as schools and buildings, that opened their doors to welcome the displaced people; in particular the “Quality in” hotel at the Rachid Karami International Fair in Tripoli which extends over one million square meters to be at the service of the displaced people.
On her turn, Ambassador Despina Koukoulopoulou thanked Minister Salam for his visit and welcomed this initiative; affirming that the Greek Government and people are standing with the Government and people of Lebanon; in attempt to help de-escalating the crisis and tension in the region as well as to provide relief aid and assistance, where possible.
