Minister Amin Salam pursued a phone call with His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade

Minister Amin Salam pursued on Saturday his Arab and international calls by making a phone call with His Excellency the Egyptian Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El Khatib, to stress the importance of the Egyptian role in the current updates, namely through the efforts exerted by the Arab Republic of Egypt, in order to reach a ceasefire agreement in addition to its role in the Committee of Five to help Lebanon to emerge from its constitutional crisis, elect a President of the Republic, rescue the State and support the National Army in such a way that ensure the Nation’ future within the Arabic shield.

Minister Salam initiated his phone call with to the Egyptian Minister by thanking the Arabism Egypt and President Abd el-Fattah el-Sisi for Egypt total support to Lebanon and their insistence not to infringe Lebanon’s security, sovereignty, stability and its territories’ integrity. Salam also thanked the Egyptian Command and people for their humanitarian, relief and brotherly support shown for the Lebanese Government, people and Army in addition for embracing Lebanon on all levels.

Furthermore, Minister Salam underlined to Minister Hassan El Khatib the importance of Lebanon’ role in the future of the Arab insights and the need to embrace it by its Arab brothers; stressing that the Lebanese government is bearing responsibility to protect Lebanon all over its 10452 square meters and ensure its integrity through our legal forces, on top of them the Lebanese Army as well as help implementing the international legitimacy and enforce the international law, in particular the resolution 1701.

Minister Salam also expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian Minister for the stance of the Egyptian Command as well as for the continuous efforts exerted by Cairo with the Qatari capital, Doha within the framework of the joint coordination and periodic consultation between the two countries that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt announced on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, stating that both the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Badr Abdel Aaty, and the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, had agreed to preserve Lebanon’ unity and sovereignty as well as its territories’ integrity, calling for the stop of “the Israeli aggression” against Lebanon and the Israeli withdrawal from all the Lebanese territories in addition to the necessity of the occupation army’ compliance to ensure the safety and security of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in the South of Lebanon subjected to armed aggressions.

In turn, the Egyptian Minister affirmed to Minister Salam the importance of the cooperation and solidarity of the regional and international efforts to continue transporting  the humanitarian, accommodation and medical aid to the Lebanese people under these difficult circumstances as a result of the displacement of more than 1.2 million Lebanese citizen due to the  Israeli  repeated attacks. 

At the end, both parties highlighted the need to keep the communication channels opened between Cairo and Beirut within these difficult circumstances.
