Minister Amin Salam conveyed in a phone call made
with the Executive Director of the World Bank in the Middle East
On Thursday of October 3rd, 2024, Minister Amin Salam conveyed in a phone call made with the Executive Director of the World Bank in the Middle East, Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Mulla, his thanks for the fast response of the World Bank to all the calls and initiatives made with the International Organizations, institutions as well as the Embassies of the Arab, European and regional countries to explain the country’s general situation due to the expansion of the Israeli aggression and given the urgent needs in terms of relief aid.
In this regard, Minister Salam highlighted through the phone call the importance of keeping the communication lines opened to discuss the issue with the World Bank which is always keen to support Lebanon reaching fast and pragmatic solutions for the security updates and developments and their critical repercussions over the society, the human situation and the Lebanese economy in general. Furthermore, Minister Salam stressed the importance of the coming annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund to explore ways of protecting Lebanon from the repercussions of the war on the Lebanese economy and the food security.
On his turn, the Executive Director of the World Bank affirmed to Minister Salam “the Bank’ response to the dangerous humanitarian situation; stating that work is ongoing to activate an emergency response plan for Lebanon”.
