Minister of Economy and Trade, Mansour Bteish, welcomed this morning a delegation of the Syndicate of Importers of Foodstuff, Consumers Products and Drinks headed by Hani Bohsali where discussions tackled the country’s economic and trade conditions in the current circumstances.
At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Syndicate, Hani Bohsali, stated: “we represent a big part of Importers of famous global brands and we met His Excellency to exchange opinions about the current economic crisis, especially that the free economy is one of our economy’ main pillars; pointing out that the Ministry of Economy and Trade is the relevant ministry to address this sector. We also discussed with the Minister number of issues related to the import”.
Bohsali added: “We fully support His Excellency and we undertake to help him and provide assistance in order to take appropriate and adequate decisions within the framework of free economy. On his turn, Minister Bteish assured us that the attention will be comprehensive for we are a ministry that is concerned in all economic sectors and that he always listen to all sectors’ demands. As for us, we hoped that inappropriate decisions will not be taken in order to achieve the desirable results”.
At the end, Bohsali concluded: “As importers and citizens, we expressed our fear from smuggling, commercial corruption and fake brands. In this regard, we witnessed that bold decisions were made to decrease the burden that still weighs on the citizen; namely that the general atmosphere helps to combat this issue”.
In addition, Minister Bteish met with a delegation of the Lebanese Omani Business Council headed by Chadi Massaad and discussions tackled possibilities of developing the economic, commercial and cultural ties between Lebanon and Oman.
