Minister of Economy and Trade, Mansour Bteish, met this afternoon with Member of Parliament Hadi Hobeich accompanied with a delegation of the Lebanese Syndicate for Poultry Farmers in Lebanon, headed by Moussa Freiji. Discussions touched on the conditions of the lebanese poultry sector and the problems that encounter it.

After the meeting, the Head of the Syndicate Moussa Freiji stated: “our meeting with Minister Mansour Bteish was very fruitful. He showed understanding of the importance of the protecting the national production and the amendment of the previous openness policies that contributed in reducing the customs tariffs to 5 % in order to protect the national production. Minister Bteish emphasized that this policy is in line with the directives of the President of the Republic”.  

Minister Bteish also met with the Board of Directors of Beirut Traders Association headed by Nicolas Chammas whereof discussions tackled the economic conditions and the problems that the trade sector faces under the current situations.       

Moreover, Minister Bteish received a delegation of the Union of Bank Employees headed by Georges El Hage to greet him whereof both parties discussed of the economic conditions in general.

At the end of the meeting, the Head of the Union Georges El Hage stated that this visit is for greeting purpose, pointing out our confidence in Minister Bteish being a veteran banker enjoying more objectivity in addressing the issues of the banking and financial sector.

El Hage added: “In this occasion, Minister Bteich explained to us his ideas and aspirations for the future of the Ministry of Economy and Trade and its national role. Discussions also tackled the issue of the National Social Security Fund, the salary correction in the private sector and the negotiations in terms of the Collective Labor Agreement between employees trade unions and bankers association”.
