A visit to the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Tripoli

Minister of Economy and Trade Raoul Nehme made a visit to the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Tripoli and the North accompanied with the Director General of Economy and Trade Mohamad Abou Haidar. The President of the Chamber Toufic Dabboussi welcomed them and held a meeting for the Department of Economy and Trade for the North Governorate headed by Minister Nehme in the presence of the Department Director Zuheir Hless and the employees. To this end, The Chamber President Toufic Dabboussi informed Minister Nehme about the national, regional and international investment projects made by the Chamber enabling Tripoli to be a lever for the national economy. Moreover, Nehme made a tour in the Chamber and  considered the various services rendered in different fields, such as quality control laboratories, Food Safety and Industry development Centre as well as business incubators, Digital Tourism Smart Corner and other projects that reveal a clear image of the strength that distinguish Greater Tripoli,  thus making it an urgent need for Lebanon and the region.

Dabboussi welcomed Minister Nehme and stressed that the Chamber of Tripoli and the North is in complete partnership and cooperation with different sectors engaged in the economic  advancement and sustainable development. In this regard, he also underlined that the Chamber’s projects would efficiently contribute in establishing the basic rules and pillars of the national economy’ advancement.

In its turn, Minister Nehme expressed his love to Tripoli and declared that Mr. Toufic Daboussi informed him about major projects launched by the Chamber and applied within, stressing that the opportunity is still available to include the projects of Tripoli’ Chamber within the framework of the national strategic plan adopted by the Government.   

Furthermore, Minister Nehme expressed his surprise from what he had seen and examined in the Chamber of Tripoli, stating that he did not expect to see this great work that provide services needed by all Lebanese citizens, in particular in terms of complying with the quality standards that help and boost the export movement. Minister Nehme ended his speech saying that this visit was fruitful assuring that the Chamber and the Ministry of Economy and Trade will be in total coordination, integration and cooperation.

In his turn, Director General of the Ministry, Mohamad Abou Haidar stated that Tripoli is a role model that shall be applied in all lebanese regions. We saw an integration between the academic, industrial, educational and agricultural sectors and the labor market. We consider that this integration is the success triangle in fighting unemployment.

In this regard, Abou Haidar assured that as long as Tripoli is fine Lebanon will be fine and as we all know, the heart is located to the north. It is my first visit with Minister Raoul Nehme and all that we hope is this visit to be a good omen and just the beginning for a country that requires the community to stand together, in particular in the public and private in order to restore the citizen’ confidence in the Government.

Minister Nehme also made a visit to Rachid Karame International Fair and was welcomed by the Director General of the Fairground Antoine Abou Rida and the Chairman Akram Awid. The Minister inspected Rachid Karame International Fair’ buildings and facilities and discussed the fair’ conditions and problems confronting it. He also considered the logistics issues to launch the project of the popular market from the producer to the consumer expected next week where number of farmers and industrialists will sell their products directly to the consumer at low prices under the surveillance of the Ministry of Economy and Trade as well as Rachid Karame International Fair.
