Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury warned the traders and retailers from any prices increase under the guise of the Tax Law, thus on penalty of incurring responsibility.

In this regard, Minister Khoury confirms that the Ministry will stand in readiness and be mobilized as a watchdog against any offender pursuant to the due process of law. Moreover, the Ministry will refer all the perpetrated offenses to the competent court while the inspectors of the Consumer Protection Directorate will increase their daily inspection visits carried out in all Lebanese regions.

For this purpose, the Minister asks the citizens to collaborate with the Ministry as well as to report for any offenses by calling on phone number 1739, downloading the Consumer Protection Directorate’ electronic application: Consumer Protection Lebanon or submitting the complaint in person before the Ministry of Economy and Trade.

Enhance the inspection process over food safety by organizing free training sessions in the field of consumer protection and the inspection mechanism on food safety adopted by health inspectors and the municipal police officers in Mount-Lebanon Governorate

Whereas the Ministry of Economy and Trade seeks to enhance the inspection process in the field of consumer protection and food safety in all the municipalities within the Lebanese territory, believing in the necessity of cooperation and coordination between all the public departments to boost the markets’ inspection,  

Whereas the Ministry considers the municipalities a preferred partner in the field of inspection on food safety whereof they enjoy the widest powers in this regard pursuant to the laws in force,

Commenting on the resignation of Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Minister Khoury says: No fear over Lebanese lira   

Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury commented on the resignation of  Prime Minister Saad Hariri saying that there is no fear over Lebanese lira and that the financial, economic and security situation is stable thanks to the presence of a strong President of Republic, President Michel Aoun.

Furthermore, Minister Khoury added that Lebanon underwent more critical crisis and succeeded to maintain its stability.
