There are 74 tickets of seizure against trade establishments for breaching the applicable laws and regulations.
The Consumer Protection Directorate at the Ministry of Economy and Trade filed last week 74 seizure reports against trade establishments for breaching the applicable laws and regulations.
In this regard, the Consumer Protection directorate inspectors made 809 visits distributed on 13 kind of inspection process throughout all lebanese areas.
It is to mention that 468 visits were made to trade establishments to ensure food safety whereof 48 seizure reports were filed against the offenders and two seizure reports were referred to the competent courts.
In addition, these visits also included 107 bakeries whereof 27 seizure reports were made against bakeries manipulating the weight or price of the bread bundle.
Moreover, 8 seizure reports were drafted for violating the decisions and circulars for the electricity generators’ owners while 4 of them were referred before competent courts. It is to note that the consumers submitted 142 complaints in this regard.
To this end, Ministry of Economy and Trade reminds the consumers of the necessity to report any violation on hotline 1739 in order to file and follow up any complaint. the Ministry also recalls its commitment to continue its missions and stresses to be more strict in addressing violations. The Ministry also calls the concerned parties to strictly abide by the laws in force.
