Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury issued a decision that suspended the trading in pickled turnips manufactured by 6 companies which area: Cortas Canning and Refrigerating Co. SAL in Dora; Al Dayaa Company in Koura; Yana trading Company in Ghazieh; Kheyrat El Bekaa El Akhdar Company in Tyre; Obeid Trading Establishment in Loubia and Michel Matar Trading Establishment in Koura, whereof laboratory tests results showed that they are non- compliant with the decision n° 119/1 issued by the Ministry of Agriculture on September 15th, 2017 in terms of the coloring matters not authorized for use in the production of pickles.

To this end, Khoury asked the above mentioned companies to retrieve their products from the market and inform the Ministry of Economy and Trade in order to destroy them.

In addition, the Minister of Economy warns the food companies from any manipulation in the mandatory standard specifications and the general rules of food safety. He also emphasizes his determination to protect the consumer and maintain the public health and safety.

Attached are the decisions about the suspension of trading in pickled turnips for each trading establishment.
