Statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Trade regarding Wonder woman movie
Media are currently circulating the issue of screening the Wonder Woman movie in Lebanese cinemas because its lead actress, Gal GADOT, is Israeli. In this regard, the Ministry of Economy and Trade issued the following clarifying statement:
- The Ministry of Economy and Trade already took the adequate actions to ban the movie of Batman V superman because of the Israeli actress Gal GADOT, thus by sending a formal request to the General Directorate of General Security on March 13th, 2016 in order to take the necessary measures in order to ban the upcoming release of this movie.
- On April 8th, 2016 the Ministry of Economy and Trade sent a letter to the Central Office for the Boycott ofIsrael based in Damascus to call for the inclusion of the actress Gal GADOT and all her movies and shows in the blacklist.
- On April 21st, 2016, the Secretariat- General of the League of Arab States issued a memorandum related to the banning of all movies and shows of the Israeli actress Gal GADOT.
For this purpose, the Ministry of Economy and Trade indicates that it proceeded to take the necessary actions to ban the showing of Wonder Woman movie where it appears the Israeli actress. Furthermore, a formal request was filed to the General Directorate of General Security on May 29th, 2017 to take the necessary actions to ban this film.
