Receipt of the current year wheat and barley crops

In order to receive the wheat and barley crops harvested for this year and for the purpose of meeting the Ministry of Economy & Trade- the General directorate of Cereals and Sugar beets’- responsibility toward the farmers who are eager to submit their crops to the Ministry and receive their entitlements, Minister of Economy & Trade, Dr. Alain Hakim paid special attention in this regard. For this purpose, the Minister held a meeting with the Prime Minister, Tammam Salam and communicated with Ministers of Public Health, Agriculture and Industry in order to receive the current year wheat and barley crops as well as to provide adequate warehouses that meet the health requirements for the grain storage after the Ministry dispensed with the old ones that were used to store the grains of the previous years.

In this regard, efforts undertaken led to rent new warehouses that meet most of the health requirements for the storage purposes as stipulated in the decision nº1317/1 issued by the Ministers of Public Health and Agriculture;

Accordingly, Minister Hakim submitted a letter to the Council of Ministers to fix the specially favorable rate of the wheat and barley; the receipt to be activated after the relevant Council of Ministers’ resolution is made. It is worthwhile noting the cooperation and coordination between the Ministries of Economy and trade, Agriculture and Public Health for both the farmer benefit, by accepting its crop, and the citizens benefit by providing a good and healthy wheat.
