Ministry of Economy: Tests results proved that Kinder bars tested negative for cancer-causing substance
Ministry of Economy and Trade published the following statement:
Days after it was reported the discovery of possible cancer-causing oil in Kinder Chocolate, the Ministry of Economy and trade undertook to investigate the issue. Communication between the Ministry and the European Union Rapid Food and Feed Safety Alert revealed that there is no alert nor a product retrieval from the European markets. According to the available risk assessment information, the system confirmed that maximum mineral oils rate available in samples is 6.8 mg/kg. Consequently, it is confirmed that the consumption of this chocolate does not cause any damage to the health.
It is to mention that Food Safety Department in Dubai Municipality confirmed that Kinder chocolate is free from carcinogens. Moreover, Saudi Food and Drug Authority declared, in coordination with the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Germany, that there is no alert nor a product recall from German markets.
In this regard, Ministry of Economy and Trade ensures a close follow up of the issue and assures to take the appropriate procedures considering any new information to communicate them to consumers.
