Minister of Economy and Trade, Raed Khoury, issued a statement explaining how the electricity tariff is calculated for the subscribers in Electricité de Zahlé (EDZ). Although there is no legal ground for the tariff fixed by the Electricité de Zahlé, the Ministry of Economy and Trade considers the average kilowatt rate between the lowest and the highest part is convenient to the guide price of the private electricity generators; the thing that shows that the standards applied by the Ministry of Energy and Water to fix the said tariff are accurate. Minister Khoury also added that: “the subscriber in Electricité de Zahlé pays its invoice according to the consumption in kilowatt rather than to the electricity rationing hours. Consequently, the average of the electricity subscription in Electricité de Zahlé is lower than other lebanese regions where fixed tariff for private generators are paid”.

Attached herewith is the said statement.
