Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, made today an inspection tour to some of the private power generators’ owners in Tarik El Jdideh and Ashrafieh, accompanied by MP. Rola Tabech, at the light of the decision previously made in terms of installing electric meters.

In this regard, Minister Salam assured that this tour came to emphasize to the power generators the necessity to comply with the decision of installing electric meters and abide by the official price determined by the Ministry of Energy and water; especially that he was receiving daily complaints from citizens in different regions about the monthly high power bills due either to refraining from installing electric meters or non-complying with the official price.

In addition, the Minister emphasized that the Ministry had made a work plan that includes all regions without any exemption to ensure the proper functioning of this sector while assuring that its main purpose does not consist in unjustly punishing anyone but, on the contrary, in urging to implement the official decisions made by the concerned authorities.

To this end, Minister Salam declared that he will soon arrange for a meeting with the concerned persons to discuss both the electric meters and price issues in addition to other concerns whereof judicial and legal procedures will be taken against the defaulting generators’ owners who refrain from implementing the relevant decisions made by the Ministries of Economy and Energy.
