Hakim listened to the demands of the wheat farmers in the Bekaa
The Media Office of Ministry of Economy & Trade released the following announcement:
“Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Alain Hakim received a delegation of wheat farmers syndicate headed by the Chief of Syndicate Khaled Shuman in the presence of the General Director of Grains and Sugar Beet, Hanna El Amil. Discussions considered the receipt of the wheat harvest whereof the delegation discussed the receipt delay in addition to the losses and damages incurred by wheat growers under the current circumstances.
In this regard, Minister Hakim assured the delegation that necessary procedures were taken after providing the appropriate warehouses to store wheat. He also reassured them that he sent a letter to the Council of Ministers Presidency on August 26th, 2016 in order to fix the wheat incentive price per ton and allocate a sum to the General Directorate of Grains and Sugar Beet in compensation for the wheat farmers.
Furthermore, Minister Hakim added that he is waiting the decision to be made stressing that he is following up the issue with the President of the Cabinet and the concerned ministries to speed up the adoption of the decision”.
