Minister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury participated in the 10th Union for the Mediterranean Trade Ministerial Conference held in Brussels
Read in ArabicMinister of Economy and Trade Raed Khoury participated in the 10th Union for the Mediterranean Trade Ministerial Conference held in Brussels, the Belgium Capital, with the participation of 43 Trade Ministers representing the States Members.
Minister Khoury stressed in his speech the importance of the trade relations between Lebanon and the European Union pursuant to the agreement signed since 2003 despite that the lebanese exports to the European States did not reach the desired level. In this regard, Khoury outlined the challenges that the lebanese economy face such as the influx of Syrian refugees which weigh on the economic growth, trade balance and infrastructures. At the end, Minister Raed Khoury made the Lebanese State’ suggestions in order to improve the access of the lebanese exports to European markets, stimulate the investments in the lebanese promising sectors and enhance the European assistance in different fields.
This conference aims at developing initiatives that facilitate and enhance the trade and investment flow in order to strengthen the process of economic integration of mutual interest in the Middle East. This conference will address priority issues related to the trade sector and propose actions and measures in terms of conformity assessment, industrial products acceptance in addition to illegal trade and fraud combating.
